If Dogs were Teachers

Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love… they depart to teach us about loss.  A new dog never replaces an old dog; it merely expands the heart.  If you have loved many dogs, your heart is very big.”   by Erica Jong

If dogs were teachers, you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never  pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

Wag more,

Bark less

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment ,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

…..Then You Are  Probably the Family Dog!
